That’s why.
Developing DRAM manufacturing capability is insanely difficult and hugely expensive. Almost all the worlds DRAM comes from one of these three names and they’re already making their fortune selling to AI companies. They don’t care about how many penny’s people like you or me can scrape together.
Literally the first video i found on youtube shows how to bypass the LED on Meta Gen 2 sunglasses. And the video is from only a few weeks ago.
https://youtube.com/shorts/RXQsBRQc7RU
EDIT:
And the second video i found shows the exact same “hack” working on the newer Meta Ray Ban Display. And that one’s from November.
Are you saying you tried on the latest version and covering the light sensor within the LED allow recording?
I’m saying a dumb little LED (whether it can be bypassed or not) is not enough. Recording with a regular camera, a webcam or a phone is an overt action, if you want to hide it you have to go out of your way to hide what you’re doing. Recording with these kinds of glasses is covert by its very design and should be held to different standards.
And that doesn’t work because you can place your hand over the camera which will trick the glasses into thinking you are in the dark which will allow you to start recording, then you just take your hand away.
Youtube is full of videos that show people how to circumvent the LED on the these glasses. Its not rocket science.
Yeah and people put little pieces of black tape over it that blends in with the black sunglasses and render that LED meaningless.
There should be a law brought in so that any glasses fitted with cameras/microphones have to be clearly labeled (as in etched so it cant be removed) with a warning along the front face of the glasses and also make it to they can only be bright obnoxious high visibility colours like neon green/orange.
Lets see how “fashionable” they are when they make you look like a member of LMFAO.
If you’re using the USB dongle then try use a USB extension cable to put some distance between the device and the dongle to reduce interference. And make sure the dongle has clear line of sight to the controller.
I dont have the 8bitdo controller but I have had issues like that with lots of other devices with dongles and using an extension + line of sight solved connectivity issues with all of them.
I have the Cyclone 2 as well. Its a great controller. The charging stand is really handy too and the controller automatically turns on and connects when you pick it up off the charging stand.
The only issue I’ve had (and its a problem with all xbox style controllers) is that in order to move the mouse cursor you need to hold the “Xbox button” and move the stick, but if you hold the button for longer than a few seconds the controller powers off. So I’m looking forward to the new Steam Controller because it has seperate touch pads.

This authorization led to the act being nicknamed “The Hague Invasion Act”, since the act would allow the president to order military action in The Hague, the seat of the ICC, to prevent American or allied officials and military personnel from being prosecuted or detained by the ICC.

Isn’t proton open source?
They could make a Linux client that uses Proton just like Steam does?
Maybe even their own forks of Proton that are more suited to the kinds of games they have on the platform (like the Glorious Eggrolls spin offs).
