61·6 months agoI wrote a bitmap rotating function in the early 90s and whenever pixels rotated off the top of the screen my BIOS would reset.
I was delighted when we could afford a decent 2d graphics library.

Being a gang member is legal and freedom of association is, implicitly, part of our 1st Amendment rights.
Either they have an actual crime, evidence, and conviction or it’s all legally irrelevant. I understand that it’s politically relevant, I just want to underscore how little the law matters to these folks.

Not what I would do, but the safest way is to villify then execute small and unpopular minorities (in the minority/majority sense) and then cater to the monolithic block that emerges. Super evil but it works.

3·2 years agoLocal vcs let’s you decouple saving progress (commit) from publishing your change (push).
This is a huge improvement over exclusive locks (old visual source safe) and shared server (like perforce).
There are many other improvements, but that is the one that had the most impact on my daily workflow.

81·2 years agoI sound even more southern than I am because I say “y’all” frequently to avoid gendered pronouns. People, you, and we are often good. I think my favorite is “you folks”.

I definitely want to tax the hell out of the rich, but we are in a deep hole. A long term systemic change will serve us better (or in addition to) talking all of their money now.
