Politics@lemmy.ml•Trump judge: Women owe us more sonograms
15·3 years agoWas sworn in by Thomas at the home of Harlan Crowe.
How is that ok? How did this Crowe stuff just come out if they were using his house to swear in judges. Maybe I’m wrong but, that just seems really off.
I live about 45min outside of a major city. I’m also looking for my first career type job. We do have a train that goes into the city which my mother has taken for many years. The only way I’d be ok commuting in would be if I can take the train or a bus. Thinking of spending an extra 10hrs+ driving each week sounds so terrible. That’s 25% more hours each week that I don’t get paid and instead have to pay money. The only other way would be a hybrid schedule with only 2 days commuting per week.
I actually get kind of excited to commute by train, I used to not have a car up in the twin cities and I read so much more having to take public transit. I would totally get a steam deck or ROG ally and finally get to play Hades and Hollow Knight.
There are downsides though. Like if you want to go by the store or a friend’s on the way home you probably can’t. Also if you just miss your train, you might be waiting a long while. Lastly our train here is fairly dangerous and the nearest stop is in one of the most dangerous cities in the US.
I wish biking was easier but where I live there is no way I could get into the city. Plus I used to bike to my first job, about 5 miles, and it sucks to get there and be sweaty. Guess with e bikes now that isn’t as big of a deal.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Sound Off: How many 10+ year redditors have left the site?
5·3 years agoMy 14 year old account is dead and hasn’t been logged into since the api day. I do still lurk on politics and one other sub, but I use RiF to do it.

News@lemmy.world•This is not a forecast for 50 years time, it’s happening today.
10·3 years agoOn reddit I was banned for suggesting it would be better to force change now than wait until things are even worse.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•We had a good run, thank you everyoneEnglish
41·3 years agoTest
I recently added Metamucil and lentils to my diet. I also eat oatmeal every day and, like you, binge veggies. The first week was bad and I did nearly shit myself on a run the other day but things seemed to have calmed down now. I am super gassy all the time though. They stinky.
I use Dewalt since it was gifted, I like then a lot so far.
Torque test channel is a goldmine of information if looking to buy.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Everything has LEDs now and they drive me nutsEnglish
2·3 years agoYour not wrong, the led on the arduino is super bright. I think you can reflash to not have it turn on though.
Does one cat only have two feet or do two cats have three?
Or does one human have 4?
I hadn’t used anything except my account logged in through RiF for 13 years. When I checked the front page as a guest I realized finally just how bad reddit is. All the posts were hot garbage surrounded by ads. I honestly don’t know how people use reddit now.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Signal is a great secure private messenger app comparable to others on the market.English
4·3 years agoAs many others have said already, I loved signal until they ended sms support. I’m not going to have two separate messaging apps. Especially when 90% of people I know won’t use signal and don’t care about encryption. I just use the Google messaging app, which in my opinion is way better than Samsung’s app. I enjoy rcs support and as I understand it, there is still e2e encryption.
That being said, if I’m doing anything illegal I’m going to force the people to use signal or something safer. As much as I love Google, I’m not going to trust them to keep me out of jail. Nudes would probably be the most sensitive thing I’d trust Google with.
Oh and I dont mind the Facebook messenger app if you use the secure mode. Hate Facebook though, just the messenger is ok.

Technology@lemmy.world•AMAs are the latest casualty in Reddit’s API warEnglish
32·3 years agoAgreed, all it is now is a marketing stunt. Usually with responses built by some lawyer or publicist. But anyway, 1 horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?

Technology@lemmy.world•Google decimates Twitter search results after Elon Musk imposes limits on reading tweetsEnglish
2·3 years agoI haven’t looked at Mastodon at all yet so I don’t really know how it works, but from what I have gathered, it is not dissimilar from lemmy but for microblogs. I suppose the main similarity is its distributed network which I agree is a better solution than a centralized server. Hopefully that statement ages well.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google decimates Twitter search results after Elon Musk imposes limits on reading tweetsEnglish
121·3 years agoHeck i couldn’t easily check if diablo 4 servers were wonky because I can’t check the blizzard Twitter. Obviously this is less important than an amber alert. As another reply said, I think police need a better way to disseminate emergency information and that is on them. However something like server status is a perfect use of Twitter that is now close enough to impossible to do. If public agencies are going to continue using Twitter for these purposes, then something needs to change. Personally I’d be ok with the government having a little more say in things if we are going to continue viewing Twitter as a public service.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•We've grown an absolute shit ton of people the past day, insanely nuts to see how active World is.English
571·3 years agoI suppose this is a good place for my first post. I’m happy to be here. This has saved me from the withdrawals of losing reddit. I hope we can make this an active community.

In similar news, does anyone have a good replacement to Stitcher? Only a few days left and I’m really upset. First RiF now Stitcher. It’s been a bad summer.
