Bei mir anders herum, vor 5 Jahren war Schluss mit Insta und co. Die Entscheidung hat mein Leben enorm bereichert: kein Vergleich mehr mit anderen, kein Doomscrollen, weniger Pseudo-Kontakte, dafür bessere Beziehungen im echten Leben, von Veranstaltungen erfahre ich in Gesprächen mit Leuten und das Leben fühlt sich ruhiger und stabiler an.

Wenn es irgendwelche Informationen wie Speisekarten und Veranstaltungen nur auf Facebook und Insta gibt, dann ist das eben so, für mich existieren die dann einfach nicht. Und mir fehlt trotzdem nichts.

I use Fedora on a laptop, NixOS on my PC and Debian for the servers. It is better than Windows in almost every way. Except:

When connecting a bluetooth headset to the Fedora laptop, lock it for a break and unlock it again, the headset won’t work. Only a few times bluetooth on and off helps, sometimes a whole restart. And connecting two devices the same time (like mouse + headset) can lead to both not working.

On NixOS/Hyprland Drag and Drop feels very wonky, for example re-arranging the toolbar in FreeCAD by drag and dropping the elements is more of a game of luck, if everything ends up in the place where it should be.

Getting the AMD-GPU to work with darktable always requires some time of tinkering, after setting up a new OS.

Wie funktioniert das anders herum? Wenn ich etwas über Käuferschutz verkaufe, kann ein böswilliger Käufer dann nicht behaupten, den Artikel nicht ordnungsgemäß erhalten zu haben?

Da bleibt doch nur vor Ort treffen, oder so lange mit Käufer/Verkäufer schnacken, bis man ein gutes Gefühl beim Versand hat.

It is such a powerfull software and capable of so much, at least LibreOffice Calc, which I use a lot. But the UI doesn’t keep up with it, a lot feels hidden. And that is a shame, because it prevents new users to see that it is a great alternative.

That doesn’t make you an idiot, instead it indicates how bad the UI of LibreOffice is.

And they hired someone with a focus on the MacOS-Version, so don’t hold your breath for any improvements in the foreseeable future on other platforms.

I think you and many of the downvoters are missing my point:

If the default setting leads me to an UI, where I, an average user, needs so long to find such a basic function, then the UI is bad. And I am very patient, but if you want to convince the average MS Office user, that Linux + LibreOffice is an alternative, then it needs to be better then this.

And I am obviously disappointet that they hired someone with a focus on MacOS and not Linux, where a big UI/UX overhaul would be needed. It sais in the article, that the new hire will also look at overall improvements beside MacOS, but that won’t be enough to polish the UX to the point where people would prefer LibreOffice over MS Office.

Maybe that’s a point that Dan Williams can address: The default presets are important. With your UI I would have found it much faster, because it is where I would expect it to be.

Tantacrul/Martin Keary has some nice videos about how he redesigned Audacity and Muse Score. The point about how important sane presets are comes up quite often.

For what? A better UI for MacOS?

For me it was under Format - Page Style, burried in some long dropdown menu. It is absolutly not user friendly, if you are new to the software or don’t use it very often.

I needed one minute to find it and I kind of knew what I was searching for (a window with all the settings for the page). The UI should be made in a way where the slowest user (apparently me) will find such essential functions fast, like in every other writing software (MS Office, OnlyOffice, Google shit, …).

So for me the UI of LibreOffice is a bad one.

Meanwhile the state of the UI/UX on Linux: I dare you to rotate your paper in LibreOffice Writer to portrait landscape in under a minute, if you haven’t recently used the function.

Scheinselbstständigkeit ist zwar auch für einige vermeintlich Selbstständigen von Vorteil, die sich damit die teuren Sozialversicherungsbeiträge sparen und sozusagen mehr Netto vom Brutto behalten, aber das auch nur, bis sie wegen schlechter Auftragslage, eines Unfalls oder einer längeren Erkrankung leer dastehen. Fürs Alter vorgesorgt wird auch selten ausreichend.

Zum Glück gibt es die Rentenkasse, die die armen verwirrten Unternehmer vor ihrer eigenen Dummheit schützen?

Selbst wenn in die Sozialkassen (freiwillig) eingezahlt wird, werden selbstständig arbeitende Unternehmer verfolgt. Und wenn dann von der Kasse 4 Jahre lang gewartet wird, um das Maximum aus den Verträgen rauszuholen, dann hat das nichts mehr mit dem Schutz vom Subsubsubunternehmer zu tun, sondern mit reiner Gewinnmaximierung.

Dass die Umsetzung nicht nur ausbeuterische Unternehmen, sondern auch Arbeitende trifft, ist dennoch bedauerlich

Könnte man ja korrigieren, durch klare Vorgaben zur Selbstständigkeit. Die sind aber so unklar, dass selbst Anwälte raten müssen, ob man grade selbstständig ist, oder nicht.

Das wäre nett, wenn es klare Vorgaben gäbe, wie Verträge von Selbstständigen aussehen sollten und was und wie viel an die Sozialkassen gezahlt werden muss. Nett, aber nicht lukrativ genug für die Kassen. Die warten auch gerne mal 5 Jahre mit ihren Anklagen, um das Maximum aus den Klagen rauszuholen.

Wie asozial kann ein soziales System sein?

I couldn’t find a hint for setting the shutter speed to a specific value. But you could use the Aperture-Mode to set your aperture, then set the ISO to a fixed value and then use exposure compensation to set the shutter speed? As a workaround.

But I wouldn’t care that much about it, 90 % of the time you would be in Aperture-Mode. Those few times you would use Manual or S-Mode for some experiments are negligible, shooting in RAW would be much more important to me.

For me photography can be both, a medium to try to show what was there as neutral as possible, and a medium to try to show what the scenery felt like for me. And if I want to show how it felt for me, the fires of Mount Doom are sometimes needed to convey the feeling.

Um “Die Anstalt” sinngemäß zu zitieren: am wenigsten kommt da an, wenn du gar nichts spendest. Und die Abhängigkeiten haben wir doch schon lange geschaffen, mit der Ausbeutung vom Süden.

Das will noch nicht in meinen Kopf rein, dass die CDU so maßgeblich an der Umsetzung beteiligt ist.

Wird die CDU besser, je weiter nördlich man guckt? Ist etwa CDU nicht gleich CDU, sondern von den Personen abhängig, die die Entscheidungen treffen?
