I looked into it a while back, but it seemed more complicated than I needed it to be, and was oriented around notes being written on certain dates. What I wanted to set up was something more like a simple markdown wiki, with interlinked pages.

I use Markor on my phone and Notepad++ on my computer.
I also have Obsidian, which isn’t FOSS and is built to save files with every change which I don’t like, but has some nice display features. I mostly use that one for viewing Markdown files, and the other two for writing them.

Entertainment@beehaw.org•Jimmy Kimmel Pulled “Indefinitely” By ABC After Over Charlie Kirk Comments
16·9 months agoIf they just stop watching, they’re not wielding power over people they hate.
All of the conservative handwringing over “cancel culture” for the better part of the past decade was them wishing they could do all the canceling themselves.

Gaming@beehaw.org•The Terribly Tragic, Totally Avoidable, Absolute Collapse Of The Gaming Industry
2·11 months agoMight be a UK thing. Here in the US I don’t think I’ve ever been to a theater that allowed any outside food or drink. I doubt it’s because of safety, I’m pretty sure it’s because it would cut into their profits from concession stand sales.

2·11 months agoTo be fair, a lot of movie theaters ban bringing in outside food. At least in my experience. I agree with just not eating though. It would certainly be healthier to decouple moviegoing from snacking.

Technology@beehaw.org•Only 1 in 3 Euro consumers are trading in their old phones
1·1 year agoI still have my old phone since it has at least one paid app on it that was removed from the Play store. I can’t download the app I paid money for to my new phone, but I can still use the copy installed on my old phone.
Realizing this has completely dissuaded me from spending money on apps, but that’s a whole other thing…
Can those services and registry keys be disabled on Home editions as well?
To follow on from that: I wonder to what degree this is a deliberate effort to impoverish people. The more American citizens (Trump supporters or not) living in precarity, the more cheap unskilled labor will be available to replace deported migrant labor…

Politics@beehaw.org•Real paper ballots are a must: N.Y. needs to get rid of touchscreen voting machines
3·1 year agoI’m in one of the states that does all mail-in paper ballots. The idea of going to a centralized location to vote on an electronic touch screen ironically seems antiquated to me. Using a screen feels like barely a step away from the punch hole ballots my parents voted with when I was a kid.
I remember hearing this on the radio back in the day. It was the first time I heard a rock song I really strongly liked, and the album it was from was the first CD I ever purchased.
I’ve since gone on to be much more of a metal guy than a punk rock guy, but I’ll always remember Fuck Authority.

Music@beehaw.org•Jack Black Cancels Tenacious D Tour and ‘All Future Creative Plans’ After Kyle Gass’ Remark on Trump Assassination Attempt: ‘I Was Blindsided by What Was Said’
5·2 years agoI’ve heard figures as high as 390 million. I’m pretty sure there are more guns than people in the US.
Steam Controller is a flawed masterpiece that I wish we had gotten another iteration of.
Also, speaking of the 8bitdo Pro 2 line, the wired Xbox version of the Pro 2 is pretty great. It’s similar to the regular Pro 2, but it has analog triggers, uses Xinput, and has Xbox coloring and branding. It’s like they took the best parts of Xbox, SNES, and Playstation controllers and mushed them all together.

Same here. A local store had a Black Friday sale that Echoes of Wisdom qualified for, despite only being released within the last couple months, so I snagged it. But I still haven’t gotten around to playing it yet.
