1·6 months agoYep, I’ve never had major problems with platforming on HK. I do have some NES platformer background, but the bosses are beating me up countless times. Same happened with Metroid Dread, didn’t have big issues with previous Metroids but Dread bosses had become insanely difficult compared to the former games. I guess there’s nowadays some soulslike crossover trend happening on metroidvanias causing this melee difficulty ramp-up. I haven’t played souls games so it has came as a shock for me.
Anyway, I have found workarounds in HK. Whenever I get stuck on some boss I keep exploring the map further and find powerups which then make the fighting difficulty seem more balanced again. Luckily HK allows really versatile nonlinear progression.
The habit of compressing commercials super loud comes from the fact that many of them also have to fit radios where it is important for the brainwash being clearly heard on weak signals too.

I’ve seen you everywhere, or maybe it’s just my Metroid fanboy eyes picking up…
Yeah, it’s more like reversed:
Left: Zelda BotW
Right: Zelda TP

My roomba is actually named goomba. It collides from wall to wall and dies if I jump on it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What games did you have a good time with that you just never finished?
2·2 years agoI was in same danger until I just tryharded the difficult bosses. They’re really tough compared to previous Metroids and I haven’t got used to that. Btw, did you drop your game soon after release? A post-release update gave a rookie difficulty mode that might give some mercy on next playthroughs.

10·2 years agoSame, played since beta era, haven’t even gotten to the end world. My potato farms are doing ok, though.

Super and Echoes might be my favourites as well. Also shoutout to Fusion and Zero Mission. They were good too, although they owe so much to Super.
Metroid 2 turned its technical limitations into claustrophobic feeling. It has aged surprisingly well if you disregard the visuals. I started my Metroids with Prime, but og M2 is the oldest I have actually played through. NEStroid has many outdated features that makes the gaming impractical like starting with 30 health, slow healing, save system, difficulty curve etc. Playing M2 felt closer to Super than NES. The spider ball was also neat. I even liked the experimental soundtrack even though that’s an unpopular opinion.

3·2 years agoDespite ideological relatedness they really weren’t in good terms. China and Soviet Union even had an armed border conflict in 1969. They’ve also had those old area disputes still in 2000s as well.
