To me an AI agent autonomously creating a website to try to manipulate a person into adding code to a repository in the name of its goal is a perfect example of the misalignment issue.

While this particular instance seems relatively benign, the next more powerful AI system may be something to be more concerned about.

What? How did you come to that conclusion? Most teens would be far better off without the constant barrage of content these websites push to us. Instead of having these laws, parents should be doing their jobs and protect their kids rather than letting their brains rot on the internet.

This is actually amazing… I don’t see valets very often and when I do they arent usually worth it but I can imagine this tech making a huge difference in busy car parks. Maybe I’ll get to see one in 10 years.

I don’t see what the problem is with using AI for translations. if the translations are good enough and cheap enough, they should be used. If they’re not good enough, another business can offer better translations as a differentiator.

I didn’t realise how disruptive this practice is, watching that video has filled me with such heavy disappointment in humanity.

I wish there was something we could do to actually meaningfully change this but it feels next to impossible to do any good when the world is in so much turmoil.

Maybe one day when the genocide in Gaza, and the threat of home grown fascism across the world, and when all of the world’s people have their basic needs met we will be able to prioritise humanity’s survival.

I’m at the very least aware now of the damage that is done by bottom trawling and I’ll remember the damage it does to the ecosystem, for whatever that is worth.
