Good. Glad people are becoming aware that they were conned.
I worry that without some deprogramming that they will just be taken in by the next right wing demagogue.

Maybe I’m too Usian to understand this but the article doesn’t call out tourists from any particular country. So it’s odd to me that China is being called out so much in the comments.

Yeah, this is another division that could be taken advantage of.
Unfortunately, it’s tough to really communicate with right wingers because they are so cut off from reality and just consume Fox, Newsmax, Joe Rogan, etc.

That’s how I see this as well. It’s a shot across the bow much like the one day strike in MN.
Many people in the US have no experience participating in this sort of thing. I hope that this is a wake up call for the citizenry as much as for the corporations and oligarchs running the country.

This isn’t someone who voted for Trump waking up to reality and saying they regret it. This isn’t someone who sees the error in their ways and making amends.
This is a coward. It takes no courage to quit a race while still defending a murderer like Jonathan Ross.
Fuck this guy.
I’m going to piggy back on this comment because there are different ‘levels’ for holsters:

Take care of yourself. Glad you caught it early.

Anarchy is explicitly against “profits”.

I think it’s unfair to have troops deployed in Washington DC. They took a gamble by joining and I can empathize with that. But them complying is furthering the fascist agenda.

That’s exactly why I posted that.

“Just following orders”

Damn blackberry bushes, buck thorn, and picking rocks from the fields…
Glad you got out.

I’m in. I attempted this on my own a year or two ago and did not make it all the way through. It will be nice to have folks to discuss with.

Very welcome!
I agree with you that we should not let them just have these spaces. Also, as you said, we can change the perspective of these spaces as something to empower people.
That’s one thing that Crossfit did / does really well. It builds a community around health and fitness. Obviously there is other baggage with Crossfit that I do not like, but it provides a model for how we can come together to support each other in that aspect of health.

It is a two panel comic, the top panel has a person asking: ‘Why are so many gymbro and self-improvement spaces right wing?’
The bottom panel has a second person responding: ‘The seemingly “apolitical” values that are often reinforced in these spaces (individual success, hustle mindset, being the strongest etc.) align with common neoliberal and conservative talking points and thereby make it easy for people within these spaces to become more susceptible to classist, patriarchal, ableist, racist and other oppressive narratives.’

By Lloyd Alexander? If so, those were great! I remember reading those to keep me busy at my older sister’s girl scout meetings.

Redwall by Brian Jacques was probably the earliest one I remember loving.
You mean the guys that write books? I guess they do say the pen is mightier than the sword.
US athletes should have to compete as unaffiliated or independent or whatever they call it.
