This is what the democratic party members Lon Johnson, a former Michigan Democratic Party chair, and David Kramer, a longtime Democratic strategist who has previously helped elect Democrats to the Senate, say after their candidate lost. Both supported Rep. Haley Stevens (per https://eu.detroitnews.com/story/opinion/columnists/nolan-finley/2026/10/16/dem-leaders-urge-party-to-vote-none-of-the-above-in-senate-race-finley/92269640007/). These are the people that would rally “party unity” to ensure a republican defeat if their zionist candidate had won. Despicable.

Oof, the amount of dog whistles in that op-ed, you’d think it was written by Stephen Miller.

I guess it’s not surprising that one of the authors is on the board of directors of Democratic Majority for Israel. And the other is accused of offering then Senate candidate Nassar Beydoun 20 million dollars from a pro-Israel lobbying group to drop his Senate campaign and instead offer a primary challenge to Palestinian Muslim Rashida Tlaib in the 2024 election.

They’re very upset that the electorate doesn’t support the genocide of Palestinians. Lon Johnson and David Kramer can go fuck all the way off. Join the GOP if the denunciation of Zionist racism is so abhorrent to you.

    Vote blue no matter who!

Never heard of anyone trying to get on board a sinking ship, but if you want to join the GOP you do you.

    :bingo:

Liberals need to do better, and remind other liberals whenever they come to anarchist/c/ to yell “purity/unity” testing crap. It’s your party. Your tactics. Look at the mirror. Heck, bring mirrors every “peaceful” protest.

What it says essentially is “the person with the most votes becomes president”, via the Electoral College, and that’s the entire structure of the process.

So there’s always one person with the most votes, and the next person with almost-the-most-votes. Over time that solidifies into two parties.

Under the U.S. Constitution, the president and vice president are chosen by electors, under a constitutional grant of authority delegated to the legislatures of the several states. The Constitution reserves the choice of the precise manner for selecting electors to the will of the state legislatures. It does not define or delimit what process a state legislature may use to create its state college of electors. In practice, the state legislatures have generally chosen to select electors through an indirect popular vote, since the 1820s. Most states use a “winner-take-all” system in which all the state’s electors are awarded to the candidate gaining the most popular votes.[5] Maine and Nebraska allow individual congressional districts to each elect one elector.

We first have to get rid of the Electoral College before we can do anything else and that involves removing parts of Article II. Until then, third parties will not get any (or very few) Electors = it’s a duopoly.

Man who hasn’t been politically relevant since losing 40%-55% a decade ago has something to say? In the editorials of a right-wing local newspaper?

Holy shit bang the drums, I can’t believe the Dems would do that to El-Sayed, what a betrayal!!!

If actual party members publish a piece in an actual newspaper about how they’re not gonna vote dem it’s no big deal, but when someone writes a comment on lemmy about how they wouldn’t vote newsom you get the whole gang screeching at you and possibly banned 😂
