Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted on X on October 11. He wrote: I demand that the Chief of the General Staff, the head of the Shin Bet, and the Attorney General initiate a comprehensive investigation against the participants in the film ZAZ and bring them to trial for serious information security offenses, criminal defamation, and harm to Israel’s political and security interests. The film presents a false, misleading, and biased plot that defames the State of Israel and the Israeli Forces in the world and severely damages Israel’s standing. We will always stand with our beloved and heroic fighters!
He wrote the film name as ZAZ, but the documentary is called NAZA. NAZA is a Hebrew military acronym for collateral damage. The film was directed by Israeli journalists Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. It has 24 anonymous interviews with Israeli soldiers and intelligence personnel. They describe how Israel used AI-powered targeting systems in Gaza. One account says a strike was approved that was expected to kill up to 500 civilians to hit one target. The film won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival in September 2026.
