Yet another punk rock band being selected as artist of the week by yours truly! Can you tell I have a favourite genre?

This one quite unique compared to The Dirty Nil I choose two weeks ago however. This is a female rock trio based from Montreal which make songs in both French and English, and are not shy to sing about topical issues as they see fit. They are qouted as drawing the source of their punk attitude from, “feminist rage and a refusal to stay silent on a long list of issues including human rights, racism, and identity, reflecting the band’s perspectives as members of the LGBTQ+ community and navigating a chaotic, inequitable world.” As the kids say, fuckin based.

The band is still in its early stages of its popularity. They have been making songs since 2018, with their first releasing beig the 2019 Les Shirley album. Two years in 2021 later they released Fuck It I’m in Love, their currently most popular song at 750K listens on spotify. The song was released as a single, but included in the Forever Is Now album of the same year. Despite being (relatively) newcomers on the scene, they have already done tours across both Canada and Europe. They most recent single, Not My Problem was released just this year and is one of my favourite songs of their because of how goofy it is – its also a thematically fitting song to play as you leave work or as you finish up disarming the bomb that is friendship drama. Given their history of releasing singles before new albums, I woudl cautiously garner that a new album is on its way later this year!

The band consists of Raphaëlle Chouinard (lead vocals & guitar), Lisandre Bourdages (drums, backing vocals), and Sarah Dion (Bass, backing vocals).
