He blames panic buying for the fuel crunch we have seen in Australia in recent weeks.

He says he would normally distribute 10 million litres a week, but last week he did more than 13 million litres.

“Sales have increased by about 40 per cent and it’s going to put a real pressure on our stock that we hold in the ground,” he said.

“With diesel, we’re putting a truckload in, and by the time we turn around and go back, the truckload is gone the next day.”

I don’t understand how people can panic buy it, unlike toilet paper where you can store years worth in your shed… Tanks are finite… surely they just stop people filling up Jerry cans ?

I don’t want to add to any panic, but…

I was due for a normal refill and topped up today at the small local servo.

The servo guy said they had been expecting a tanker for the past 4 days and hasn’t shown up. He rang up to see what’s going on and was told “Ring back when you run out”

It’s not felt so much like panic buying to me as everyone trying to buy on the cheap day of the week to maximise savings causing massive lines.

Walked down the park today and the line for the nolla servo was round the block.
