Many people sense that something is deeply wrong with the way modern society works, but conversations about it usually end with no agreement and no useful action — only blame and despair, and often hurt feelings.
We tend to treat money, power, and control as normal, necessary, or simply “how the world works.” I don’t see it that way. Taken together, I believe these forces amount to an existential danger — not just to social stability or fairness, but to the long-term viability of life on Earth.
Money turns needs into transactions and leverage. Power enforces outcomes through the threat or use of force. Control shapes behavior psychologically, often without people noticing it happening.
On their own, each of these can seem manageable, or even useful. But over time they narrow the range of choices available to everyone. Division, escalation, environmental damage, and collapse aren’t accidents — they’re what you get when this kind of system runs long enough.
I’ve written a detailed exploration of this that I call MPC: Money, Power, and Control. The intent is to lay out a way of thinking about what we’ve come to accept as “normal,” and to understand what continuing down this path may actually mean for our future as a species.

What could you possibly add or clarify that hasn’t been covered since the Greeks, the Bible or Machiavelli?
These things are part of human nature, that you want to argue they aren’t already casts doubt on your understanding of humanity.
Regardless of the systems we enact, there will always be humans who will game that system for their benefit above others - any system that operates from a paradigm that denies this only serves to make it easier for such people.
Sociopaths and psychopoaths are born and not just made by circumstance - and everyone in-between. We’re all born as self-centered, selfish little animals - we can’t help but be otherwise. And we “only get 60 years on the planet” (as the song goes) to learn how to be good humans. How many of us make any significant progress along the way? I know of a couple people, and that doesn’t include me (it took me a long time to not be an ass).
So yea, preach your ignorance of human nature, it’s a waste of time. Maybe first acknowledge the nature of humanity, and then we can have a productive conversation.
