Not sure if these are “official” but I’ve noticed some things

wear-levelling like the ssd thing where you try to keep things relatively even and balanced in where you choose to match tiles. Try to match extremes symmetrical style

avoid matching things next to each other, especially if it doesnt free up any overshadowed adjacent tiles

At the start, try to only match tiles that have at least one tile below them so you optimize for opening up as many buried tiles as possible

dont match tiles that are only one tile “stacks” until the end to keep options open and flexibillity

A Tomasz-Lueger “domino” might beat a traditional whitewood combo.

Stay away from low ledging, even mid-game

Border over corner except in a 8:4 game

While your opponent is building towards a cat tap, subvert by high ledging. Almost always works.
