Not sure if these are “official” but I’ve noticed some things

  • wear-levelling like the ssd thing where you try to keep things relatively even and balanced in where you choose to match tiles. Try to match extremes symmetrical style

  • avoid matching things next to each other, especially if it doesnt free up any overshadowed adjacent tiles

  • At the start, try to only match tiles that have at least one tile below them so you optimize for opening up as many buried tiles as possible

  • dont match tiles that are only one tile “stacks” until the end to keep options open and flexibillity

    • A Tomasz-Lueger “domino” might beat a traditional whitewood combo.

    • Stay away from low ledging, even mid-game

    • Border over corner except in a 8:4 game

    • While your opponent is building towards a cat tap, subvert by high ledging. Almost always works.

    • I made all of that up.
