Oh wow, that’s some nice noize. (and really cool album cover)
Man, I used to be in love with Hip-Hop, many years ago. Public Enemy for awareness, Big Daddy Kane for coolness, Kid & Play, De La Soul and many others for feel-good spirit, etc…This reminds me a lot of a band called “Onyx,” I believe it was.
Damn, those were the days, when my dumb, white arse was obsessed with playing bball. (god, I miss basketball)Alright, here’s one from me, from back in the day:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kdQ4soLcacOnyx - Shut em Down was the first CD I bought with my own money @ 13yo loser in Sweden. Loved hiphop in 90s and fell out of love when everybody started auto-tuning. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
E: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=oprdLnYQ6HU I’ll contribute one too
Cool, thanks for that tune… hadn’t heard it before.
Now did auto-tune bleed it’s way in to rap? I don’t quite remember that. What I personally remember is that by the late 90’s, almost all the playfulness and experimental nature was gone from hip-hop, leaving me really nothing to hang on too, anymore. My ongoing ‘rap needs’ pretty much shifted to Caribbean music, and I’ve never really looked back, other than to enjoy the old classics.
