I would definitely not use “inane” to mean “silly”. Kinda the opposite. Inane is boring, dull.

Inane means pointless, stupid, lacking sense. It can be stupid to the point of being boring but it doesn’t mean boring.
That said, I also wouldn’t use it as a synonym for silly.
Edit to add: According to the Cambridge dictionary silly is a synonym, but I relate better to others, like vapid, pointless, unthinking and nonsensical.
