Lemmy.world Support@lemmy.world•Lemmy needs real deletion, not just soft‑delete/hiding
2·6 months agoI am not a programmer, but as I understand how it works, when you access content (user profile, post, etc.) that is not on your server, a request is sent and two things can happen. The request receives a response and the content is updated or it is not received and you see a cached version. I suppose a third option could be added, you get a response and it says that the content is actively deleted, causing the cache to be deleted. Maybe it took a while to clear everywhere, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

It is truly sad to live in a world where you don’t know if what I say is sarcasm.
On the other hand, specifying it is for cowards.
Something socially productive like asking yourself why you are poor if there are plenty of resources for everyone in society? Not interested

1·6 months agoI don’t know either, but if it’s not from Spotify the links don’t work, so if they break the API the program won’t work.

101·7 months agoIt won’t work for so many millions when Chinese cars are skyrocketing, competing on price with them is crazy. Combustion engines require advanced engineering, but electric ones are absolutely basic, we must look for another element that differentiates these brands, I would pay more for good open source and auditable privacy software that I know is not going to leave me stranded at the first opportunity.

friend? I do this at work all the time, half my day is dealing with the consequences of not responding on time.

2·7 months agoI understand that the Democratic stablishment really works for the economic elite, but what I want to know is what prevents the bases from taking primaries everywhere, bypassing the party, just as has happened in New York, as you yourself say.
I may not know from Europe, but is there fraud in the primaries? Are leftist candidates actively blocked even if they have real verifiable support?

7·7 months agoWe all have a narrative and try to convince others; that’s what dialogue in forums is all about. The difference is whether it’s done in good faith, trying to debate, learn and share, or in bad faith, diverting, deceiving and pushing misleading debates to promote hidden ideas.
It is not always easy to distinguish one from another, and organized groups take advantage of that.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How does capitalism differ from crony capitalism?
41·7 months agoThere are two effects you’re not considering.
First, if you make the best product, everyone else will leave the business, so you become a monopoly. But almost everything has what are called barriers to entry. I can’t open a microchip factory; the investment is absurd. That’s why large companies can easily buy out startups, and that’s why we constantly see market concentration. It didn’t happen before because until the 1970s, antitrust laws were serious; now they’re a joke.
There’s another important issue: in a 100% free capitalist system, it’s assumed that initial bargaining power isn’t equal, so those with more can pressure those with less, making wealth concentration more and more concentrated. Adequate government regulation can help level the playing field between employer and employee, but that’s another thing that hasn’t been improving in recent decades.
