Have you ever actually met a European? Most people I know have at least one savings account. Also (at least in Sweden) sickpay is usually paid for by your workplace for the first two weeks, where you typically need a doctors note after one week. If you’re sick for longer than two weeks you have to contact one of our social services (Försäkringskassan), with a new doctors note, they will make an evolution if you’re sick enough to not be able to work. If they think you’re not able to work they will pay you based on what your salary was.

Of course you can abuse this system, but if you are sick often enough your workplace will probably demand a doctors note from day one. It’s not a perfect system, but I prefer knowing that the bills will be paid, even I get sick for a long period of time.

Yeah, we’ve tried adding more scratching posts of various sizes, tried foil, citrus, ignoring him when he scratches the couch while praising him when using scrathing posts, and probably more methods that I’m forgetting. The little asshole still won’t leave the couch alone.

We have talked about it, I know she feels lonely when I’m out, we both enjoy an evening. I know she feels bad over not really having a social life outside of work. I don’t really go our more than once every two or three months really, but I know she feels alone when I do.

Oh, we both enjoy out alone time as well, usually when we’re home we’ll be in separate rooms and feel content with it. It’s by talking that I know she feels bad sometimes when I’ve gone out for a beer with a friend, because it reminds her of how lonely she is. This is why I feel bad for going out, even though she has reassured me that it’s OK that I do.

What I miss is probably the time when I could go out without feeling bad for her sake.

I know that I see that time through rose tinted glasses, I will not break up with her over this and I will definitely not cheat on her.

I just miss the the time of my youth I guess, but as I mentioned in my post I love her so very much. I’m not entertaining any thoughts of “setting it all on fire”.

Yeah, it’s what we give up for loved ones. I had a banger of a night with a friend last year before his daughter arrived, we went on a pub crawl which ended up with us joining up with a couple of 18-19 year olds celebrating a friends birthday. We all had a great time and went home around at 4ish AM.

I guess it’s just a part of moving into a new stage of life, I kind of wish my 20s lasted longer lol.

I will most likely end up deleting this, even though I highly doubt she would find this.

We do things together that we both like almost every weekend, be it museum visits, taking a hike in the woods, or just watching a movie. We’ve been together for 8 years, but we’re in our 30s now, she gets along with my friends, I just wish she had some of her own.

My feelings aren’t bitter honestly, I just would feel better if she went out to do things without me more often.

It was the only active “off my chest” community that I could find, and I felt I needed to vent. Sorry.
