Usually morning if I have to be somewhere that day. Otherwise whenever I can get around to it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s the weirdest experience you’ve ever had?
8·1 day agoSo, I’m not a believer in ghosts, so this is just some random unexplainable event in my mind. After the funeral of one of my grandpas, we got a call on the cordless landline in the kitchen. Caller ID was his name, no number. My mom answered and nothing on the other end.
This post also made me think about something I should have absolutely been way too young to remember. Probably the oldest memory I somehow have, which is specifically the imagery of one of the bathrooms in the house my grandparents lived in. Just the imagery of a dark room, but only a set of stairs that lead to an attic you couldn’t use because you’d fall through. Opposite wall from the toilet and sink. Not really an occurance, but the fact I can remember that despite the fact I was absolutely most likely still in diapers is kinda chilling.
Only if I haven’t turned them outside in after taking them off. I don’t mind either way since I don’t have many clothes I would die if the print died.
Thankfully all of mine have disappeared in one way or another, so I am safe from any potential embarrassment.

3·2 days agoYeah, I kinda forgot about that command since the last time I actually played Oblivion was before Skyrim. If I didn’t overwrite my save from before dealing with the emperor, I might load it just to kill him for fun.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you saw a mushroom cloud, what would you say?
2·3 days agoI’m sure there are gonna be very sparse pockets of area that somehow don’t get hit and be far enough to be safe from the blast, however unlikely that is. I’d bet money on some areas surviving with at least minimal damage, but I’m probably gonna be dead by the time anyone could figure out whether I’m correct or not.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Bluesky decides to enshittify at record speed!
46·3 days agoIn general, I’d say the fediverse as a whole has shit branding and is probably a bit too confusing and/or too much initial setup work for the average inertnet user.
But I’m glad it’s like that, to a degree, because it helps lower the amount of people overwhelming places like here with all the people who would gladly allow the place to be overrun by ads and corporate astroturfing.

7·3 days agoCoal LLC has been good over the past couple days without internet since I don’t care about steam save backups for that game.
I also recently installed my Oblivion GOTY copy from the 2000s on my potato desktop. Got through creating an argonian named Jabber and got part way through the escape route before stopping. Hopefully in a few months I can upgrade my desktop so I can play without the minor FPS issues and resulting gameplay jitters I have to deal with. Also bummed I couldn’t use the Unlock console command to go in and kill the other prisoner.
Otherwise, I have not been playing many other games outside the odd game of Rhythm Heaven Fever and Megamix or how I scummed my way through most of a 20 turn of mario party 5.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you saw a mushroom cloud, what would you say?
20·3 days agoIt’s a giant mushroom! Maybe it’s friendly!
All jokes aside, I am in an area where I’d most likely die from it, so wouldn’t be saying many bad things and more along the lines of how fortunate I’d be to not have to live after the clock strikes midnight.
With the past couple weeks I have had, I haven’t had time to catch up on that specific news. Between dealing with having been in a car crash and studying for winter quarter finals, it’s been hard for me to find the energy to follow up on this kidbapping.
I haven’t been keeping up with it, so thanks for the heads up.
For context before I spout my hunch, within the past maybe month or so, someone who worked as a news hostess in the US had her mother kidnapped and hasn’t been found and/or returned yet ( dead or alive ) with no arrests so far.
Given the general climit in the US right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if the person who did it knew exactly who they were kidnapping and did it out of spite/hatred for this news hostess. Especially since, IIRC, this happened in Texas.
As to what has happened to the mother since, that’s up for debate since there’s basically not much evidence in the case besides a doorbell camera showing the man coming, mask on with a gun, and trying to block the camera with his hand. That’s the latest I heard.

Games@lemmy.world•What was the first game you ever bought ?English
2·4 days agoCouldn’t tell you the very first game I bought, but I definitely remember one of the oldest being either Ed Edd n Eddy: The Mis-Ed-Ventures for gamecube or Sonic Unleashed for PS2.
I could at least say with certainty my first Steam game purchase was most likely Portal 2 since I wanted the level creator super bad as an xbox port owner.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week?
2·4 days agoI’ve had a lot of fun destressing on the way home from finals by playing Rhythm Heaven Megamix on my softmodded 3DS. So much easier than RH Fever. Been very slowly chipping away at that.
Also had fun with Sonic Lost World on 3DS until I got stuck on the green zeti snowman boss. I tried looking up what to do, but I have not even once been able to replicate it. Hate that boss so much more than any other boss in any other game I have played.

Technology@beehaw.org•Metaverse inventor Neal Stephenson says VR goggles are dead
6·6 days agoI never understood the hype of VR goggles beyond things like VR Chat combined with body trackers. Fun to watch people make an ass of themselves in VR games, but that only lasts so long before it gets boring.
That’s my take, at least.
The way I see it, no fair and just deity would ever tell you to believe in them before yourself. Believing in them before yourself is the kinda language narcissistic predators use to ensnare people.
So, is the ad trying to paint Jesus as a narcissist? Not intentionally, but damn do they do a horrific job of trying to relate to probably a massive chunk of people, moreso than those who are supposed to relate to it.
I also refuse to believe their is a fair and just deity who would give you a single glance if you don’t believe in yourself first and foremost.
I think the only time I have ever preordered, I was not disappointed because I got a strategy guide for the game. Still got the BioShock Infinite guide, even though I have never used it.
Otherwise, nowadays, in a basically exclusively digital only world, I could never in good faith preorder a game unless I know I’m getting merch to go with it. I’m talking things like a plushie of the characters or something cool like that. Like how I backed a comic book that is also DLC for a game and am getting a printed copy sent to me for backing enough into it.

Playstation 2@lemmy.world•What are your favorite PS2 games?English
3·7 days agoRight now it’s Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. I haven’t played it in a while, but it’s a charming enough 3D collect-a-thon.
Though, for all time favorite, nothing beats two of the only first person shooters I play anymore: Star Wars Battlefront 1&2. Basic answer, but it’s two games I still occasionally play to this day, unlike most every other PS2 game I had growing up.
It’s probably 300 times harder to be depressed and anxious when you are braindead, so this tracks.

New Super Lucky Tale
Fun platformed that I just recently got. Charming game so far. Just barely beat the first boss.
Mail Mole
I’ve had it for a while longer. Another platformer, but some of the side characters models don’t look super pretty. Still fun enough
Those have been my recent steam deck games. That, and the Kila Flow demo, another platformer. Been trying to make sure my next steam yearly wrap up thing says I played more platformers this year so the genre shows up on that wrap up thing.
